GNAAS’ fundraising raffle behind target

We’re issuing a heartfelt plea to the public to support our annual raffle after seeing it struggle to meet the halfway mark of our fundraising target.

The ‘Take Flight Raffle’ launched earlier this year to raise vital funds for the air ambulance charity, which relies on public donations to survive.

Every £1 ticket bought will support GNAAS’ mission to keep families and communities together by providing life-saving care across the North.

Unfortunately this year’s raffle has failed to reach the same level of success as previous years and has currently raised around £45,000 against a target of £100,000.

In response to the drop in ticket sales, the charity is reminding the public to not take their service for granted and consider buying raffle tickets to support their local air ambulance and help reach their fundraising goal.

Joe Garcia MBE, chief executive at GNAAS, said: “We’re very grateful for everyone who has bought or sold raffle tickets in support of our service, but it is quite worrying that we are just under halfway to our fundraising target, with a month to go.

“Every day our highly skilled critical care team are on standby ready to respond to the region’s most ill and injured patients. By participating in our raffle, you’ll be helping our team continue to provide advanced care to thousands of people every year, while also having the chance to win incredible prizes.”

The charity, which has a base in the North East and Cumbria, responded to 2,083 incidents in the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria, and the Isle of Man, as well as providing support to major incidents further afield.

With a highly skilled doctor, critical care paramedic and experienced pilot on board, they bring the hospital directly to the patient, and can perform major surgery, administer anaesthesia and deliver blood products right at the scene.

It costs approximately £9.3m a year for the charity to remain operational, so to help fund their life-saving missions, they are inviting the public to purchase tickets for their raffle, which gives them the chance to win an incredible holiday and cash prizes just in time for Christmas.

The top prize is a dream getaway to the Caribbean, which includes a two-week stay for up to four guests in a beautiful apartment set along the palm-lined shores of Glitter Bay, Barbado, plus £2,000 towards flights.

There are also two cash prizes of £2,000 and £500 up for grabs, perfect for splashing out on something special or covering the Christmas shop.

The raffle will close on 28 November and the winners will be drawn two weeks later on 12 December.
